Just some little jottings of my reflections and heartfelt gratitude.
If there was one single person who stood out throughout history as the most notable figure, it wouldn't be the intellectual Greek philosophers (e.g. Socrates, Aristotle), powerful rulers who conquered the world (e.g. Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan), nor would it be inventors or scientists or even founders of the world's religions. But in a lowly manger in Bethlehem two thousand years ago was born to a carpenter and a virgin; One who would influence the world to the ends of the earth: JESUS CHRIST!
People say that in His lifetime, Jesus never started a revolution, never led a nation, never wrote a book or a song, nor did He make any new discoveries or even start a family. But two thousand years down the road, we now have an international all time best-seller, the Bible, dedicated to Him. He's got more songs and books written about Him throughout history than any other single person. And He's got more followers and people who are willing to lay down their lives for His sake than does any other single individual. All because He came for the redemption of mankind, which is far more valuable than any earthly kingdom, worldly wisdom, or scientific discovery.
And yet He came in humility. Born in a manger when there was no place for Him even in the inn. Leaving His glory and splendor in heaven to take the form of the lowest; He came as a carpenter when He could've chosen to be born a prince. Which other god would do such a thing? I can't help but just be filled with gratitude and thankfulness that He came. And so, with only several days to Christmas, it's good that we all take our time in between the hurry and activities and church programs to stop and thank Him for all that He has given us. Also, when we sing the carols, let us pause and just ponder over the words. Which are so, so, so true. Currently I'm listening to this one (not a carol, but very, very meaningful): We Are The Reason (the song is playing in this blog). The words just touch me every time I hear it.
As little children

As little children
We would dream of Christmas morn'
Of all the gifts and toys
We knew we'd find
But we never realized
A baby born one blessed night
Gave us the greatest gift of our lives
We were the reason
That He gave His life
We were the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live
As the years went by
We learned more about gifts
The giving of ourselves
And what that means
On a dark and cloudy day
A man hung crying in the rain
All because of love, all because of love
I've finally found the reason for living
I've finally found the reason for living
It's in giving every part of my heart to Him
In all that I do, every word that I say
I'll be giving my all just for Him
For Him...
We are the reason
That He gave His life
We are the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live
He is my reason to live
Rejoice, world; Salvation is here!!!
