The second coming of Christ is like a thief in the night, but NOT for Christians. Which explains why the many signs of the end times are given to us in the Bible; that we be watchful and not be caught unprepared. And the truth is, as the many prophecies and signs of the end unfold: earthquakes everywhere, pestilences, war, rumours of war, we just don't have much time left.
And a time will come when one known as the Antichrist will rise up and seek to persecute those who stand for Christ: the Great Tribulation. So as long as we have the privilege and the freedom to meet up and worship together as we do now, we'd better meet up as often as we can! And bring AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE with us. Are we taking the limited time we have to seek and save others for granted?
And when the time of tribulation does come, it'll be the ultimate test for the church. And I sometimes do wonder, what would I do if a gun was pointed at my head threatening me to deny Christ? Or worse, what if it's a slow, torturing death? Would I cave in to the pressure, or would I forsake my life for Him? I can't honestly give a definite answer. Really. Think about it. For many of us who've never been through persecution we could never fathom the passion that other Christians who are being persecuted have to stand firm in the midst of death. How the many who've given their lives for the Gospel had the courage to do it. I do pray, however, that if it does come down to that, that we, too would have the conviction to stand on the right side.
