Okie, I hafta be honest wit y'all. This post is directed at one person and one person only (yes, LL, it's you). So if any of you besides LL feel offended by anything stated here, I'm truly sorry. It wasn't intentional.
I've been a Christian long enough to discern between a holier-than-thou bigot and a man after God's own heart and YOU are definitely the former, not the latter.
Dude, being sad is an appropriate response to certain situations sometimes. It's okie to grief and to cry, because God can turn our griefs into glory. Hence feeling sad is okie UNTIL or UNLESS it becomes destructive. Hey, we're created with emotions - the ability to feel deeply. When I miss him, I feel a lil' sad cuz I dun see him often. When I'm sad, I cry. You have a problem with that?
I do thank God for the gift of emotions - for allowing us to experience joy and delight in what's good and even for the ability to experience pain. I do know that in this fallen world, pain is an inescapable reality. I admit that I often choose to believe and act on my feelings without stopping to consider whether or not those feelings are based on Truth. I frequently allow my responses to be controlled by how I'm feeling and by my circumstances, rather than by His Word and His Spirit. I'm only human, yo!
SHEESH... the nerve!
I always quote this:
"I'm often misunderstood. People think they know me but they don't. I'm more than meets the eye."
My life is beyond your comprehension; beyond what words could ever say. What you know about me is only what you read on my blog, right? It's IMPOSSIBLE to capture with words and pics the essence of my entire life, ya know. So if you dunno me personally, pls zip it. And the last time I checked, missing someone is NOT a sin.
Dude, seriously man... you're too arrogant and condescending. Not only you have no respect for my feelings and values, you have no respect for my job as well. I was disgusted when you made fun of my job the other day on MSN in that condescending manner of yours.
To all Christian religious extremists, pls read the following:
From the Bible, we know that Daniel's name was changed to Belteshazzar to function in Babylon, right? The change of name means that Daniel allowed his personality to be totally immersed into his career. But do you know the meaning of "Belteshazzar"?
"Bel" is the name of the chief demon god of Babylon. Belteshazzar means that "Bel will protect his life"!
Btw, what about the names of the other three famous Hebrew heroes: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego - who refused to compromise in the book of Daniel? Shadrach means "the moon god", Meshach means "like the moon god" and Abednego means "servant of the demon Nego". By adopting such ungodly names, have they compromised? Nope, they held on to their consecration in the face of great persecution!
In relation to our contemporary world, it would be interesting to ask: what happens when a Christian wins a Malaysian Idol contest? When worship leader Guy Sebastian won the Australian Idol, he received some flak from the conservative Christian community in Australia. They were upset because the title "idol" was offensive to them. But honestly, does the "idol" title mean that Guy is now promoting idolatry and should never have participated in such competition?
Daniel and his Hebrew friends had all adopted extremely paganistic names! And yet, God had no problem with all that. The truth be told, God is less religious than we think He is!
I repeat, GOD IS LESS RELIGIOUS THAN WE THINK HE IS!
Ecclesiastes 7:16 says, "Do not be overly righteous, nor be overly wise: Why should you destroy yourself?" By saying that one could be "overly righteous", that means that one could try to be more righteous than God Himself! And by going beyond even what God expects of a person, you could end up destroying yourself. A good example is the Pharisees in the Gospels. Through their legalism, they kept trying to be holier than God and in that process, they ended up crucifying the Savior to the cross!
Are you a Pharisee?
When I read the Bible, my mind replaces the word Pharisee with "Hypocrite".
The bottomline is, dun be pharisaical in your judgment. Dun judge the minor sins of others while you ignore the major sins of your own.
He without sin among you, cast the first stone. (John 8:7)
