Jeffrey Low, Rachel Loh, Jessica Wong, Daniel Wong & Michelle Kirsten Tai
We ministered to the Orang Asli there in Bahasa Malaysia (BM)... =)
The living conditions of the Orang Asli in Gua Musang really made me think about the luxuries that we, the urban folks, enjoy back in the city. Yet, with the little the Orang Asli had, they hungered for the Word of God, especially when Daniel preached on the Parable Of The Sower and when Rachel and I shared the Gospel to them in BM.
We were humbled by the fact that they were always thankful for God's blessings, big or small, always quoting, "Puji Tuhan!" ("Praise God!") What a huge contrast to people in the city who complain that they don't get the latest iPod, the latest car or the latest laptop... *sighs* There were jellies and candies that were given to them at the end of the service, plus medications for the kids and I got a lil' teary-eyed when I saw their faces light up at the simple gifts... gifts we often take for granted... =/
Pastor Lizhun and his family were very kind us to let us spend the night at their house. They are of the Temuan tribe (originally from Selangor) and Pastor Lizhun actually gave up his high-paying job to serve as a pastor to the Orang Asli in those villages. His personal testimony really touched me and I was humbled and inspired by his faith in God. Oh, by the way, Pastor Lizhun was previously a member of St. Peter's Church in Ipoh, Perak. Wendy, that's your former church, right? =)
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip... =D Although we went for the mission trip to be a blessing to the Orang Asli there, I truly believe that every one of us were blessed ourselves... ^_^
