I managed to write down the mission statements of Batey Ads today, which I'm gonna post it later on. I chatted with my Creative Director, Julian Yap, today. I asked her about what it takes to be a Creative Director and I kinda promoted myself by telling her that my ads got shortlisted by my Creative Execution & Production lecturer, Lawrence Chan, last semester for the Kancil Awards... hahaha...
Anywayz, about her experience and all that, she told me that she was an Auditor many years ago before she became a Strategic Planner and then a Creative Director. She said that there are 3 types of CD: a good motivator, a craft-oriented leader, and a combination of both. She said that Creative ppl (Art Directors, Copywriters, etc.) must have broad marketing knowledge and skills in order to come up with good concepts that meet the client's expectations. Then I started telling her about my area of interest, which is Copywriting and she said that from next week onwards, I dun hafta do anything in the Account Management Department anymore (yay! I hate Client Servicing... =P). I would be placed in the Creative Department for the rest of my internship and I could learn from Puven,
the only Copywriter in the agency!!! I'm so excited!!!
I wrote TWO radio scripts today for TM Online and Puven liked them very much! He said he was gonna present them to the client. I'm reallly glad that I wrote TWO radio scripts in just one day... hehehe...
After that, I helped Clifford with the press ads and the descriptors for this Sunday's event. It's a Road Safety Campaign by the JKJR (Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya). It's called "Kempen Keselamatan Musim Perayaan Deepavali dan Hari Raya Aidilfitri" and the theme is "Pandu, Tunggang dan Jalan dengan Selamat" (Drive, Ride and Walk Safely). We are having a roadshow at KL Central and it's gonna be launched by the Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. The Minister of Transport, YB Dato' Sri Chan Kong Choy is gonna be there too. It's a major event and I feel honored to be part of it. We are going there on Saturday morning to set up the booth.
While I was cutting the mounting boards and all that, Wilson (one of the Art Directors) came over to help me. During that time, I got to know Wilson a little better. He shared with me his experience in visualization and how much he has learned from different ad agencies. Clifford, as usual, was kidding around and making us laugh... hehehe... he's the funniest guy in the agency... ;D I feel so blessed to be part of this big, happy family cuz they are very, very nice to me and they are always willing to help me. =)
